Dr. Steve and Vicky Long - Founders of Global Champions

Dr. Steve and Vicky Long founded Global Champions in 1994 with a shared passion for youth, education, and community empowerment. Drawing on their extensive experience in education and community engagement, they set out to create a lifeskills education program designed to give students the tools and confidence to overcome life’s challenges.

They began by developing pilot programs in areas serving high-risk youth, while simultaneously helping establish and support teams across the U.S. in schools facing significant challenges. During this time, they adopted their sons in Taiwan, which inspired them to expand their mission internationally. Recognizing the need for lifeskills education there, they built Taiwan Champions into a nationwide program reaching every major city, which continues to thrive today and is now expanding into Korea, Japan, and more countries in South East Asia.

With their foundational teams in the U.S. having completed their initial projects, Dr. Steve and Vicky are focused on scaling the program nationally, bringing it off the page and making it accessible to students in all 50 states. Their lifelong commitment to youth development and education continues to guide Global Champions’ vision: empowering young people everywhere to champion over life’s challenges.

Victoria Long

Victoria played a key role in growing the Taiwan program into a nationwide initiative and has been recognized with numerous awards for her contributions to education. Today, she continues to co-lead the board and oversee operations, dedicating her life’s work to providing students across the United States with the tools to thrive and overcome life’s challenges.

  • Master’s in Intercultural Studies and Education

  • Victoria has continued to provide visionary leadership for the organization, guiding its growth and impact while fostering a culture of innovation and inclusivity. Through her strategic oversight and dedication, she has built a framework that ensures the organization’s mission endures, creating a lasting legacy that will benefit future generations of students, teachers, and volunteers.
